Two weeks in and here is what people are saying about us

We first opened our doors two weeks ago not really knowing what to expect and how everybody would feel about the renovations we had done. We have been blown away with the lovely positive comments that people have given us and have loved serving you all. We know we have room for improvement and welcome all comments on what we are doing, but we are so pleased that the changes we have made have been received so positively.

You can read below some of the reviews that have been placed on our Trip Advisor page.

“I booked a party of eight for a family celebration the second day of opening after the comprehensive renovation (July 15th). Well it was brilliant, the benches on the riverbank for a quiet drink in the sun followed by a full three course meal. Beer; excellent, well looked after and the house ale is fresh and hoppy. Decor; gorgeous, big leather chairs, table and chairs, benches outside, take your pick. Food; incredible, I had the duck starter followed by slow cooked Ox cheek (see pic) then sticky toffee pudding. All lovingly prepared, well presented, good portions and the whole party was thrilled. They even had a good children’s menu and polite, attentive staff. Great place, don’t hesitate to go!”

“Just returned from Sunday lunch at the newly reopened Crown and Anchor pub near Beverley. First thing to say is ignore all reviews from before July 2015 as the pub now has been completely gutted and transformed into a really nice country pub with a touch of gastro about it and is now independently run. We had two courses for £14 and this seems fairly reasonable these days. Two in our party had the roast and I had the Sea Trout all excellent (not huge portions but enough) I then had the sticky toffee pudding which was huge and delicious. We had our two kids with us aged 1 and 3 and both were made to feel really welcome – the owner gave them games to play (check out the picture to see what the kids drinks come in) The kids menu is three courses for £5.50 which is pretty good for a pub of this standard. Service was little hit and miss, I put this down to new and inexperienced staff so should get better over time. The owner however was attentive and very friendly which is always nice. So a very good start for the new Crown and Anchor, we will be going back.”

“Called in and had roast dinners, (2), very good and great to have fresh food cooked by a chef! Would recommend it and sure you won’t be disappointed!”

“We are regular visitors to the Crown & Anchor but this is the 1st time that we have had the opportunity to sample the beautiful menu since it’s reopening and 1st class transformation.
We visited as a family of 5 on the evening of Thursday 23rd July and I must say that the variety of food that we all ordered was 1st class in every way.
A special Thank You to all of the Staff for ensuring we had a lovely evening .
Tony, Sharon, Mike, Paul & Cheryl.”

“As locals we visited on a Saturday at 5:30 to try the new menu only to be told that they were fully booked! We immediately booked for the following week and we were not disappointed. The food and service were exceptional and good value for money compared with similar establishments. We would highly recommend a visit, however I would suggest booking first!!”
